Richard Fiol
& Amber Fiol
Married to Liz Bowie and
one daughter, Amber. I am the son of Pepe Fiol, the man who
took care of boilers at Marble Hill Projects. I know some of
the folks who will be attending the Marble Hill reunion, and I
probably played marbles with the others. I think I've had a
pretty strange life since I left our beloved Marble Hill. I
was an off-off Broadway actor, A union Plumber, and I am now a
lawyer working for the National Labor Relations Board in Seattle,
Washington.
Since I left the Homeland,
I've lived in Miami, New Orleans, Alburquerque, San Diego,
Baltimore, San Francisco and Las Vegas. These are all nice
places but they don't compare to NYC. I am looking to buy an
apartment in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico where I hope to complete
this strange trip that I've been on. Querida, Kathy, I
promise to attend your next reunion and PLEASE, hold it soon
because the Good Lord works in mysterious ways. Saludo(best
wishes) to my friends from Marble Hill. To Donny, the
Dodgers suck, always have and always
will. |

Turkish
Lived in Building
8.
Left Marble Hill in 1969
and went into the US Air Force. Where I was sent to Vietnam
and Thailand during the height of the war. After 1 1/2 years
in Southeast Asia I was sent to England. Stationed just
outside of Oxford. I lived there for 6 years where I met my
wife, Dawn and afer a 3 year courtship we got married in
England. We came to Las Vegas after living a fun filled
party lifestyle since the exhange rate of dollars to pounds was
almost 2 times the value after about 1 year in vegas, we bought
our first house $31,750 for $1 down thanks to the military.
Afer 8 months in our new house I got orders to go back to England,
I decided to leave the service after 13 years. All my
children, Lisa, Rachel and Joey were all born here and all the
kids are now married. I'm the pround grandfather of 3 kids,
Aaron, Tyler and Heather with the oldest 10, 7, and 6.
Everyone still lives in Vegas and we get together every
Sunday. Just like the old days when I was growing up.
This Sept. will mark our 35th anniversary. Who would have
thought that I wold be with the same woman that long.
After getting out of the
service, I decided to get in the car business, sell car since
there is very little public transportation in Las Vegas, the
average family owns 3 vehicles. As Vegas has grown from 1/2
million people when we first arrived to almost 2 millon today, the
automobile industry has been very good to me and my
family.

love going to the theater – have seen most shows currently on
broadway but I also go off-broadway, off-off-broadway and regional
theater as well. Enjoy going to the Hamptons during the summer and
meeting friends for dinner & movies during all the
seasons. Love reunions, especially Marble Hill because I
enjoy seeing old friends. Hope we continue to do so…I
already miss everyone.
I’m on the Board of
Directors of a non-profit organization called Share The Care whose
purpose is to support individuals and families who are caring for
a loved one; or people without a caregiver. Share The Care
shows how friends, neighbors and even acquaintances can organize
themselves to give essential support to a friend and their family
during a major health crisis.
I’m very proud to be
part of this much needed organization and hope everyone will visit
our Website www.sharethecare.org and read some of the stories of
groups and individuals who’ve benefited from Share The

John O'Brien &
Lainee Carroll (Mr. & Mrs. O'Brien):
John and I were real
project kids, every time I've gone back to the city I have to go
to the projects. I meet many people in my travels and I listen to
their stories about growing up and none compare with my time in
Marble Hill. We had it all. We went out at 8:30 on a Summer day
and returned in time for dinner.Somebody's Mom was always
watching, I was never afraid. What a different world
today.
Fact:My family was the
first to move into the projects. Building one was suppose to be
finished but they completed building 3 ahead of schedule. My
brother Tom was 2 1/2 and I was 1. My parents moved out in 1992,
forty one years. I also had 3 more brothers Bill, Kevin and
Richie.I moved out in 1970 Married John O'Brien from building 2 Ha
Ha He didn't get to the projects till he was 10. I
told you we knew people by buildings. Georgette Building 5 married
Eddie building 4 .
We went to Germany,
John was in the Air Force. He joined and didn't wait to be
drafted. John Fako got drafted and Died in Vietnam the day of my
wedding shower. He would have been John's best man. I had my first
son in Germany, John J ( tell Arlene she was right 8- 9- 71. We
got out of the Air Force and returned to the projects and moved
into building 3 apartment 10C I had lived on 7C for 19 years. We
moved to Lake Hopatcong New Jersey, than Tucson Arizona now Mesa
Arizona. My son Erik was born 5/14/75 . John has worked for
at&t for 35 years. Our oldest Son John J served in the army in
Iraq in Desert Storm. He married a girl from Colorado and has a
beautiful ( the first girl in a long time ) girl age 4 named
Ciena. The daughter in law wanted to name her Sienna but that
would make her initials SOB and I said the kids in 5th grade will
have a ball with that ( I know the project kids would have ). John
J lives in Mesa with his family, He works for Statesman a custom
home builder.
Our Son Erik married
a girl who join the Air Force and fly's. He had Patrick age 13 and
Connor age 7 and was a stay at home Dad while his wife flew F-15
fighter jets, and moved all over the country. She flew over New
York City after the WTC were attacked for many weeks. She was in
Iraq for 6 months at the beginning of the war. She kept a diary of
her days at war and they printed some of it in Glamour Magazine
June 2003 and July 2003 issues. She is now in Korea. Erik lives in
Alamogordo New Mexico outside Holloman AFB he goes to the
University of New Mexico and he just got accepted to Notre Dame."
Me" I was a stay at home Mom for many years had day care for the
Teacher's kids. Big PTA person and only went out to
work when the boys were older. I worked for K-Mart and at&t. I
was laid off my job with at&t they gave it to a person in
India. Now I take care of the elderly members of our families.
John's Mom and Dad Aunt and Uncle and another Uncle moved to Mesa
Arizona So did my parents. My Mom is still going strong she's 82

projects. And John's Aunt is still with us. I'm sorry we were

the City and Washington DC with our Grandsons. Say HELLO to all
and wish them well. To: jmeaobrien@cox.net |

Perkins:
Yes, I am married for 34
years. My son is 27 and is a Real Estate Attorney. He is not
married, but he is looking. He would like to be married by age
30. He lives in Long Beach (N.Y.) and his office is there
as well. My husband is in the Garment Center and has
been forever. I have still looking for myself all these years,
but I think I finally found what I really like. I had a teachers
license, but never taught. Then I worked in the Garment
Center, then I worked retail for around 20 years in the
neighborhood, but not in the same stores. It was just a filler to
make play money and keep myself busy. Now, however I
am busy going to school for my certification in Interior Design. I
always liked Interior Design, started it once, but had to leave
because of emergency with my son's dog and had to stay in Fl. with
him. So, now I decided to continue school again. I re
decorated my house this year, really enjoyed doing it, and get a
lot of compliments, and decided, this is what I want! So now I
am busy with school, and I also do floral arrangements. Anybody
interested, give me a call. ( Had to give myself some
advertising). I can do houses without my
certification. Anyway, it only took me 56 years to
finally decide what I want for me! Everyone is retiring, and I am
starting out! So, that's it. This is my life. Need
any info. - call 516-791-6441. This is my life, and
my best buddie in my life is my dog,
Maxie. |

Geberer I was at the reunion, but didn't
take any photos.
For the record, I am Raanan
Geberer, the managing editor of a community newspaper in Brooklyn,
55, married to the former Rhea Lewin, lives in a co-op in Chelsea,
Manhattan (Penn South--a Mitchell-Lama). Went to Bronx Science,
then SUNY Binghamton, finally to Boston University's journalism
program. I don't want to make my address and phone no public but I
will make my email public. No children. Main hobbies are going to
the gym, gardening, playing music with friends (I play several
instruments) and writing fiction. My main interests are music,
politics and religion. Moved away from Marble Hill in late '71
to--where else--Co-Op City. My years in Marble Hill were not the
best by a long shot--I had a lot of problems as a child and had
few friends, and when I DID finally meet friends, they came from a
different neighborhood in the Bronx--but I enjoyed the reunion
nonetheless. Anything else you'd like to know, let me
know |
